traditional family bakers
Krusty Loaf has been a family run business for over thirty years. Having originally started up their own bakery in Chester, Paul and Jane Henry made the move to Norfolk and bought Krusty Loaf in 1987, hoping it would provide the opportunity for growth that they craved. With an outstanding work ethic and commitment to their customers, they successfully established the bakery in its current guise, and developed it into a thriving and successful local business that has stood the test of time.
Currently in its second generation under the leadership of Nick Henry, Paul and Jane’s eldest son, our Fakenham-based bakery operates a wholesale service supplying kitchens and businesses throughout Norfolk with locally sourced, lovingly baked bread and confectionery. We also run a shop in Holt.
Nick has been involved with the business in an official capacity for the past ten years, but his interest in baking started much earlier, having spent every summer since he was twelve years old helping out at the bakery.
Alongside our classic range, Nick has been instrumental in developing a range of speciality breads and rolls such as spelt, sourdough, pumpkin, corn, ciabatta, beetroot, brioche and multiseed (which is a low G.I. variety), all of which have gained considerable popularity with our customers in recent years. Some of the inspiration and techniques for these different products has come following a variety of training courses and trips, notably those at Switzerland’s leading school for bakery and confectionery: the Richemont Centre of Excellence.
Above all, our main aim is to produce a product that is both locally sourced and thoughtfully crafted. Our team of skilled and dedicated bakers work around the clock to provide high quality and delicious food for our customers, using the best ingredients to produce products that we can really be proud of.
